DO YOU HAVE A PASSPORT?
Why you should get or renew your U.S. passport before April
Are you among the 59% of Americans who do not have a passport? Here’s a reason to get one sooner than later. As of April 2, 2018, the passport execution fee will be going up from $25 to $35. That increased fee applies to U.S. passport applicants using the DS-11 form, including
- First-time applicants over the age of 16
- Children under the age of 16
- Passport holders who’ve had their passports lost or stolen
When applying via the DS-11 form, you’ll actually pay two fees: an application fee to the U.S. Department of State and an execution fee to a passport acceptance facility - the place that physically accepts your application, such as a post office, city or court clerk’s office or public library. The new fee doesn't apply to adults who are eligible to renew their passports by mail using the DS-82 form. To learn more about renewing your passport, click here.
Hilton Hotels and Resorts have teamed up with the U.S. State Department to encourage more Americans to apply for passports through its Hilton Passport Project. Guests will be able to take their passport photos and receive information about applying at select hotels. For a list of events, click here.
